Coffee was introduced in Vietnam by the French in 1857;
By 2014 Vietnam became the 2nd largest exporter of coffee in the world after Brazil;
2.6 million Vietnamese work in this industry with beans grown on half a million small shareholdings of 2 to 3 acres;
90% of exports are unroasted Robusta green beans;
In 2016, the country exported 1.8 million tons of coffee reaching a value of 3.36 billion USD, up 33.6% in volume and 25.6% in value vs 2015.
In 2016 Germany and the United States were the two largest consumption markets for Vietnamese coffee .

Most export consist of Robusta green beans;
Many Coffee roasted in Vietnam contains additives that give it a distinct sweet taste which is not necessarily adapted for the hospitality business (hotels & restaurants);
However with support from government, Vietnam is now moving towards mixed beans production and specialty coffee adapted to foreign tastes;
Lam Ha bio coffee follows the same direction with focus on organic bio coffee, Ginseng , Ganoderma & chocolate coffee;
